    Who We Are:
    Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 preschoolers through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

    What We Need:
    The Student Access and Achievement Facilitator will work within the Department of Student Access and Achievement under the direction of the Director of Student Access and Achievement. The Facilitator will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and accessible educational environment for all students, staff and families. This position will serve as a liaison, facilitating communication between schools, the administration office and the broader community. The facilitator will support key initiatives, manage communication platforms and ensure consistent implementation of strategies that promote equitable access and engagement.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Social Media & Digital Communication
    • Manage department social media platforms to promote programs, initiatives and events.
    • Develop engaging, culturally responsive content aligned with district priorities.
    • Monitor online presence and community engagement metrics.

    Parent University & Online Learning System
    • Coordinate and manage the Parent University online system to ensure accessibility and timely updates.
    • Provide technical support and communication to families accessing Parent University resources.
    • Track participation data and prepare reports to inform program improvement.

    Community & Partner Engagement
    • Coordinate Central Partners meetings, including scheduling, communication, agendas and follow-ups.
    • Maintain strong relationships with community partners to support student access and achievement.
    • Serve as a liaison between families, schools and external stakeholders.

    Publications & Communication Tools
    • Develop and distribute newsletters, digital updates, and other communication pieces.
    • Manage department website content to ensure timely, accurate and user-friendly information.
    • Create professional documents, presentations and marketing materials to support initiatives.
    • Regularly collaborate with the district communications department.

    Program & Event Coordination
    • Support department-led initiatives, workshops and events designed to promote equity, inclusion and access.
    • Assist in planning logistics, marketing and communication for events.
    • Collect and analyze feedback from participants to guide future programming.

    General Responsibilities
    • Maintain clear, consistent, and culturally responsive communication with students, families and staff.
    • Assist in data collection and reporting aligned with school improvement plans (SIPs).
    • Collaborate with district staff to align department efforts with strategic goals.
    • Commitment to access for all students and families.
    • Effectively use digital communication tools, including Canva, Google Workspace and website CMS platforms.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and relationships across communities.
    • Perform additional ad hoc duties as assigned by the Director.

    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Public Relations or a related field preferred.
    2. Experience in education, community engagement or communications. 3. Strong skills in social media management, website content and digital platforms. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    5. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    7. Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) highly preferred.
    8. Proficiency in digital communication tools, including Canva, Google Workspace and website CMS platforms.

    Additional Information

    Work Environment:
    Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
    Terms of Employment: 12 months.
