What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Vocal Music Director - NWHS position at Waukee Community School District?
Position Criteria:
- Valid State of Iowa teaching license & 5-12 Music endorsement.
- Demonstrate aptitude for performing tasks listed
- Must exhibit ethical practices and be a role model to students
Performance Criteria:
- Serve as primary director of two co-curricular vocal music ensembles: High School Show Choir and/or Jazz Choir
- Assist Head Director and staff with scheduling and preparations for the year’s vocal music events to include:
- Annual choir retreat
- 4 curricular concerts during school year
- 1-4 additional concerts for auditioned ensemble
- All-State Choir auditions
- Solo/Ensemble Festival or comparable experience
- Show Choir choreography camp
- Show Choir and/or Jazz Choir rehearsals
- Assist Head Director with coordination and oversight of the vocal budget for curricular and cocurricular ensembles
- Assist Head Director with ordering costumes, repertoire, and equipment
- When applicable, recruit and oversee jazz choir rhythm section and schedule rehearsals with instrumentalists
- Assist Head Director with coordination of bus/transportation needs for rehearsals, performances, competitions, and other events as applicable

Assist Head Director with student preparation, coordination, and supervision of student participants at events to include:
- All State Music Festival Weekend
- 3-5 show and/or jazz invitational/festival performances yearly
- IHSMA Large Group Festival or comparable experience
- Assist Head Director with the coordination of all aspects of hosting Show Choir/Jazz Choir Invitational
- With the Head Vocal Director, schedule volunteers to assist at performances and events, including volunteers to coordinate food, ticket sales, publicity, decorations, costuming, etc. for major choral events
- Assist with set up and clean up after major choral events
- When applicable, coordinate itinerary, finances, and other logistics for vocal music tour
- When applicable, coordinate National Anthem singers for home athletic events
- Communicate with guardians, community, staff, administration, and other stakeholders regarding schedules, competitions, transportation, etc.
- Design programs and coordinate printing
- Collaborate with facility support staff as needed including Operations and Performing Arts Center Management
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District
