Position Summary
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional facility environment through routine custodial duties and basic building maintenance tasks. This position supports daily operations of multiple client stores/locations based in and around the Franklin Park, IL area (within approximately a 15-mile radius) by performing cleaning services, and facility upkeep while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform weekly cleaning and sanitation of offices, restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, floors, parking lots, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including floors, walls, fixtures, sinks, countertops, urinals, partitions, mirrors, baby changing stations, and water fountains.
- Clean and maintain a variety of flooring surfaces, including vinyl composite tile (VCT), luxury vinyl tile (LVT), polished concrete, ceramic, porcelain, carpet, and terrazzo.
- Apply floor finishes through waxing, recoating, or other approved methods, as assigned.
- Perform parking lot cleaning, including sweeping, power blowing, and collecting and disposing of debris; ensure all litter is removed.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned areas.
- Restock restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and properly, including floor cleaning machines.
- Follow established health, safety, and cleaning procedures.
- Report major maintenance issues and repair needs to management promptly.
- Maintain organized janitorial closets and maintenance storage areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and maintenance tools
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
- Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work when necessary
- Manual dexterity sufficient to handle cleaning chemicals, tools, and small repairs
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–2 years of janitorial, custodial, or basic maintenance experience
- Experience using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Valid driver’s license in good standing without restrictions
- Ability to securely store a company-assigned vehicle when not in use
