What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduling Clerk- Full Time: Varied Shift *TEMPORARY position at Watsonville Community Hospital?
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Admitting Manager, responsible for the courteous, accurate and timely scheduling of patient procedures in the hospital. Responsible for the efficient and smooth flow of the patient scheduling process. Will promptly recognize and greet patients and visitors. Where appropriate, manages the sign-in list, coordinating patient preferences with availability of department services. Responsible for verification, precertifications, and obtaining coverage on all applicable procedures requiring certification, all other insurance or non-insurance categories requiring fax, telephone, or written approval. Included in this are contracted accounts, non-contract insurance accounts, MediCruz and MediCal accounts and utilization referrals.
- High School graduate or GED.
- Hospital registration experience and/or scheduling preferred.
- Computer keyboard experience.
- Must be bilingual, Spanish/English. Knowledge of various health insurance including government, HMO's and PPP's.
- Familiar and knowledgeable in the use of basic office equipment.
- For pre-certifications/authorization, must have Excel and Microsoft Word experience.
- Must be organized and have the ability to work in a high activity busy environment.
