What We Are Looking For:
The Watermen, Inc Accounting Specialist is responsible for recording and maintaining Watermen’s financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and assisting with various accounting tasks. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy in all financial records. This role reports directly to the CFO and works closely with leadership and external partners to ensure timely and accurate financial operations.
This is an onsite role not remote or hybrid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record daily financial transactions in the general ledger
- Verify and post transactions to appropriate accounts
- Reconcile vendor and customer balances
- Prepare and process accounts payable and receivable
- Assist with payroll processing
- Produce financial reports and statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements)
- Maintain accurate records for auditing purposes
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting
- Maintain and file monthly & quarterly sales tax reports
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations
- Monitor and report on cash flow
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Handle invoice generation and collections
- Complete annual 1099 form
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping or relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information

Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist as needed with sales order data entry
- Assist in developing and improving bookkeeping systems and procedures
- During peak season and key off season time periods assist with customer service and sales support as needed
- Coordinate with external auditors when necessary
- Maintain organized financial records and filing systems
- Communicate financial information to management and stakeholders
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in financial regulations

Compensation: $34-$38/hour
