Role Description The Artificial Turf Installer role at Waterloo Turf is a full-time, on-site position based in Bluffton, SC and surrounding areas. The installer will assist with site preparation, including measuring, grading, base installation, and compaction to ensure proper drainage and stability. Day-to-day tasks include cutting and fitting turf, securing S seams, adding infill, and finishing edges to meet quality standards. The role involves operating basic hand and power tools, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining a clean and safe job site. The installer will work as part of a field crew, follow project plans and supervisor instructions, and interact professionally with clients and team members. This position requires regular outdoor work in varying weather and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Experience with basic construction, landscaping, or turf installation tasks, including measuring, cutting, grading, and site preparation.
- Comfort using hand and power tools (e.g., utility knives, compactors, plate tampers, saws) safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting materials, working on knees or crouching, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accurate measurements, clean S seams, and high-quality finished work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math and measurement skills; ability to read or learn to read simple project plans and layouts.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Bluffton, SC.
- Previous experience in artificial turf, hardscaping, or landscaping is preferred but not required; willingness to learn on the job is essential.
