What are the responsibilities and job description for the EKG/Clerical Assistant position at Waterbury Hospital?
**Please note: This job would require up to 8 consecutive weeks of training, 8 hours per day, 3 days per week (i.e., 24 hours per week for up to 8 weeks of consecutive training).**
Job Summary:
Utilize independent judgment and resourcefulness while performing office management tasks and coordination of activities relative to the operation of the cardiology department. Maintain excellence in customer service. Interactions include adult and older adult population, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other support staff. The main features of this job are the editing and billing of EKGs, booking procedures and appointments, data collection and processing. There are no clinical responsibilities in this job.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate.
- Well organized and able to communicate clearly.
- One year of medical office experience preferred.
- Knowledge of general medical terminology.
- Must be computer proficient.
- Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred (e.g., EPIC or Cerner).
- Knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, such as typing, use of Microsoft Word and Excel, faxing, copying, phone system, and filing.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while performing simultaneous tasks.
- Willing to cover some weekends and holidays.
