The Assistant Warehouse Manager will be responsible for safely leading the receiving & distribution operations of a warehouse facility. A successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the receipt, sortation, and outbound transportation for distribution of retail related equipment and other miscellaneous goods. This position has varied responsibilities including
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):
- Support Warehouse Manager for optimal flow and inventory management of Watco Retail Services facility
- Oversee the daily workflow of the warehouse
- Organize schedules and staff to ensure proper staffing is available for all shifts
- Hire and train new warehouse team members
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Manage discipline and termination of team members in accordance with company policy
- Supervise safety across facility campus including team members, visitors, and suppliers
- Oversee safe transportation, distribution & maintenance operations performance
- Lead transportation & warehouse staff to deliver cost efficiency and high levels of service
- Setup warehouse layout & ensure efficient space utilization
- Initiate, coordinate, and enforce optimal operational and safety policies & procedures
- Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security
- Liaise with clients, vendors & independent contractor drivers
- Plan work rotations, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
- Recruit, select, orient, coach & motivate employees
- Produce reports & statistics regularly
- Work both independently and in a team as necessary and collaborate with operations and other subject matter experts on a continual basis.
- Perform in compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization
- Meet customer needs and expectations by delivering solutions in a safe, timely, and profitable way

- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Forklift operation certification preferred
- Apply knowledge of organization, communication, conflict resolution, and time management skills
- Experience in transportation modes inclusive of, but not limited to full truck load, less than truck load, parcel, and expedite
- Knowledgeable in standard industry practices, trends, and operational requirements
- Effective customer service skills and the ability to service both internal and external customers
- Use basic computer skills - Microsoft Excel and Word
- Develop understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies
- Develop understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management System)
