What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Waste Reduction District of Monroe County?
The Controller is the Financial Officer of the Waste Reduction District of Monroe County. This is a 35 hour per week benefit eligible position that reports to the Board of Directors, and works under the general supervision of the Executive Director. Ideal candidates will have extensive knowledge of Indiana SBOA and DLGF uniform compliance guidelines and a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The position also assists with employee benefit administration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and integrated accounting software, and effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing monthly financial and budget reports to the Board of Directors
- Process and certify bi-weekly payroll
- Budget preparation and monitoring
- Invoicing, accounts receivables, and accounts payables
- Fixed asset management
- Ensure compliance with State Board of Accounts recordkeeping and reporting requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be bondable
- Minimum five (5) years of governmental accounting experience
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Indiana State Board of Accounts and Department of Local Government Finance uniform compliance guidelines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and integrated accounting software
