Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety focused Part-Time Transfer Attendant/Heavy Equipment Operator to join the team in Hood River, Oregon.
Starting wage is $34.98/HR (with an increase to $36.20 after 90 days of employment pending a positive performance review)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, & Saturday
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
- Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe, and/or front-end loader.
- Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
- Track measurement information in computer system.
- Ensuring that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
- Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
- Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.
- Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
- This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- To be eligible for employment, candidates must pass a criminal background check, & drug panel screening as well as have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
