JOB SUMMARY

Work schedule is based on a 40-hour week, which may include rotating shifts, weekends and holidays



This is a full functioning professional position performing a range of direct and indirect services within a specific program. The employee will be responsible for making assessments as well as developing and implementing care plans. The employee will work as a member of a team, coordinating work with other professionals.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Essential Duties:



Provides services to children and/or adults utilizing a variety of modalities, including crisis intervention, as well as individual, group and family interventions.

Provides client service management to children and/or adults, in emergency situations as well as in longer-term planning.

Participates as a team member with other staff in the review of services for individuals as well as for the program.

Represents the agency to the community in a way that fosters the mission and goals of the agency.

Provides information and referral to county residents in need of community services.

Promotes interagency cooperation through working with other community agencies.

Supervises the work of students and/or volunteers by assigning cases, reviewing work and interpreting agency policy and procedures.

Recommends new programs through assessment of agency and community needs.

Prepares verbal, written and statistical reports for use within and outside the agency.

Participates in meetings, workshops and conferences and serves on committees.

Speaks to interested groups on mental health related topics as requested.

Provides assistance in the orientation and training of other agency employees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Duties require sufficient mobility to work in an emergency room setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum requirements are that applicants have a valid Michigan Driver's License and meet any requirements by funders for transportation of consumers; a Master's degree in social work or psychology, two years of clinical experience plus one of the following:

Limited Licensed Master's in Social Work (LLMSW) State of Michigan certification, LMSW preferred

  • Limited Licensed Master's in Clinical or Behavioral Psychology (LLP) State of Michigan certification

Other qualified health professional licensure as required to provide services and able to receive Medicaid and/or Medicare reimbursement and other third party reimbursement for mental health and/developmental disability services.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Work schedule is based on a 40-hour week, which may include rotating shifts and weekends.

Knowledge of:



Use DSM-V criteria to accurately evaluate and diagnose persons with psychiatric disorders

Functionally assess persons with developmental disabilities

  • Assess for risk of suicide/homicide and to differentiate intensity of service needed.

Ability to:



Conduct structured interview with persons seeking service, by telephone and/or in person, to apply diagnostic and CMH criteria

Organize information and present cogent descriptions of symptoms, history and functioning of persons seeking service with ability to support decisions about diagnosis and treatment recommendations, both orally and in written form

  • Explain and educate individuals and agency representatives about mental illness, developmental disability and CMH policies and procedures
