Position Summary

The Office of the Dean of Arts & Sciences (A&S) is looking for a motivated individual to manage the daily operations of the Living Earth Collaborative, under the direction of the co-directors. This position specializes in project management for a broad range of activities and with multiple local partner institutions, including the Saint Louis Zoo and the Missouri Botanical Garden and is responsible for ensuring effective operational planning, team communication, programming, and financial management.

Key responsibilities include managing working groups, tracking and analyzing metrics, writing monthly progress reports, preparation of donor updates and reports, overseeing budget and accounting matters, and serving as the main liaison for university partners on media strategy and outreach. Assists working group lead in preparing materials for grant submission and reporting. Takes the lead in planning LEC-sponsored activities, including lectures, workshops, symposiums, conferences, and visits.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Management and execution of critical LEC programs and operations.

  • Serve as liaison with partner institutions, including Missouri Botanical Garden and Saint Louis Zoo.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies (postdoctoral scholars).
  • Establish milestones and management schedules; track progress and coordinate contributions within and beyond unit.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project/program management.

Data Tracking/Management and Reporting

  • Identify, collect, and manage information from a variety of sources to meet the tracking and evaluation objectives of the LEC.
  • Develop and maintain a database of outcomes/metrics (funds raised, publications, outreach, placements, etc.) for all programs and projects, (e.g., LEC seed grants, collaborative grants, and previous postdoctoral scholars) through direct contact, progress surveys, and by regularly performing searches (such as SCOPUS/PubMed).
  • Evaluate and assess program/projects. Analyze and summarize data, write reports, and disseminate results.
  • Periodically evaluate working groups and the effectiveness of operations and workflow regularly and systematically.

Communications and Media

  • Oversee communications strategy for program and projects, including web site, social media, newsletter, and event branding.
  • Serve as public-facing point of contact for LEC and co-directors.

Financial Governance

  • Provide financial oversight of the LEC budget.
  • Develop project budgets with working group leaders; ensure adherence to grant requirements.
  • Participate in grant process and/or provide oversight of budgets.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
