REQUIRED CRITERIA:
- Valid NJ Certification for Teacher of Spanish and advanced low on OPI for speaking
- Knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in ELA, NJ World Language
Standards and ACTFL Proficiency Standards - Working knowledge of Integrated Performance Assessments
- Good understanding of rubrics in both formative and summative assessment
- Flexibility to travel between buildings and levels, if necessary
- Strong English communication skills for parent communication
- Strong interpersonal skills (collaborating with colleagues, parents, students and
administration on a regular basis) - Enthusiastic advocate for world languages and ability to engage elementary students in
differentiated activities - Strong understanding of the Spanish culture and differences within Spanish-speaking
countries - Teacher toolbox that incorporates instructional strategies in all four modes and
communicative approach at Novice to Intermediate language levels
PREFERRED CRITERIA:
- AATSP, FLENJ membership encouraged
- Additional certifications in French and/or German
- Knowledge of Seal of Biliteracy
- Teacher with personal experience in/traveled to Spanish speaking country
