Site Supervisor ($17-$20) and Club Counselor ($15-$17) Positions ** This is a position working at an Avon Community School Elementary Locations (K-6), hours are morning shift from 6:15am to 8:15am and/or an afternoon shift from 2:00-6:00pm Monday-Friday Only.**

Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to provide a safe and engaging environment as the primary caregiver for students by leading program activities as well as guiding students in their personal growth and daily skills. Supervisors and counselors will work to implement weekly club activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of students in their club group within activities to meet intended camper outcomes.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with students through communication, relationship development, and respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
  • Assure students are properly supervised at all times.
  • Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for students within the mission and outcomes.
  • Responsible for leading or assisting with the teaching of activities.
  • Actively participate in all program areas as assigned.
  • Provide for a progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for students and staff.
  • Provide the daily care of each student and supervision including recognition of personal health needs.
  • Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by the Club Supervisor.
  • Be alert to camper and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems.
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to the Youth Services Coordinator.
  • Responsible for filling out incident and accident forms electronically.
  • Be a role model to students and staff in their attitude and behavior.
  • Always conduct themselves in a positive manner.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Set a good example to others in regard to general program procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
  • Represent the program when interacting with parents or community members.
  • Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their students to have a successful program experience.
  • Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public while representing a positive image of the program.
  • Follows all Washington Township Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification. (Park will assist in completion)

· Must obtain and submit a criminal history background check and submit to a drug test. (Park will assist in completion)

· Must have reliable transportation to and from program site.

· Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to students and staff.

· Ability to observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

· Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

· Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist students in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

· The ability to work independently while still meeting deadlines.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 29.0 per week
