Assistant Manager

The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing aspects of daily operations at Washington Square Bar & Grill, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, strong financial performance, and a positive, team-driven work environment. This role leads front of house operations, drives revenue growth, and upholds the restaurant’s standards for quality, service, and community presence. This role has a focus on managing our bar and our bar staff.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including dining room, bar, and kitchen coordination
• Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service
• Monitor and maintain compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
• Bar ordering and inventory

Team Leadership & Development

• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff 
• Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development

Guest Experience

• Maintain a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests
• Address customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally
• Build relationships with regular patrons and the local community

Financial Performance

• Manage budgets, labor costs, and inventory to meet financial goals
• Cocktail and drink menu creation to promote sale growth 
• Oversee cash handling, reporting, and daily financial operations

Marketing & Community Engagement

• Collaborate on promotions, events, and seasonal offerings
• Maintain an active presence in the White Bear Lake community
• Support brand consistency across in-house and digital platforms

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a full-service setting
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Proven ability to drive sales and manage costs effectively
• Knowledge of food, beverage, and bar operations
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
