Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing behavioral health issues, utilizing shared lived experience to foster trust and hope.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques.
- Conduct motivational interviewing to encourage positive behavioral changes and treatment adherence.
- Support clients in navigating mental health counseling, addiction recovery, and social services.
- Document interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop individualized recovery plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development related to behavioral health best practices.
Qualifications
- Lived experience with mental health challenges or addiction recovery, demonstrating the ability to serve as an effective peer supporter.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and crisis management strategies.
- Background in behavioral health, social work, mental health counseling, or related fields is preferred.
- Skills in mentoring, motivational interviewing, and providing empathetic support are essential.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and foster trust with diverse populations.
- Certification or training in addiction counseling or behavioral health is a plus but not required. This role is vital in supporting individuals on their journey toward recovery while promoting a compassionate approach within our community-based services.
