Description
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of county buildings and public facilities. This role ensures a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for employees, visitors, and the public. Work is performed independently and may involve following a routine schedule as well as completing special cleaning projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning of offices, restrooms, hallways, public areas, breakrooms, and meeting rooms.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and carpet-clean floors as required.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures.
- Remove trash and recycling from all designated areas and ensure proper disposal.
- Restock restroom and cleaning supplies (e.g., paper products, soap).
- Clean windows, glass doors, entryways, and interior partitions.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, ledges, vents, and equipment.
- Assist with room setup for county meetings, events, and public functions (tables, chairs, equipment).
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely.
- Comply with county safety policies and follow all cleaning standards and procedures.
- Respond to urgent cleaning needs or spills in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Previous janitorial, custodial, or building maintenance experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, etc.).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.

Pay: $16.50 - $19.00 per hour
