The Network Specialist plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the hospital's network infrastructure. This position requires strong technical skills in network configuration, security, and performance optimization, ensuring the integrity and availability of all clinical and administrative systems.

The ideal candidate has a solid background in LAN/WAN management, firewalls, switches, routing, and server administration, along with a proactive approach to cybersecurity, troubleshooting, and uptime reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Monitor and manage network performance, availability, and bandwidth utilization to ensure reliable connectivity across the organization.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
  • Manage server operating systems (Windows Server) and virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V preferred).
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including patch management, antivirus updates, and firewall rule maintenance.
  • Perform network segmentation, VLAN management, and VPN configuration to support secure remote access.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and hardware issues affecting end users and critical systems.
  • Document network configurations, topology, and standard operating procedures for business continuity.
  • Collaborate with vendors and IT leadership to plan and execute infrastructure upgrades or new implementations.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated networking and server issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support after-hours incidents as needed.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or related field preferred.
  • Technical certifications or advanced coursework in network administration highly desirable.

Licensure/Certification (Preferred):

CompTIA Network , CompTIA A , Cisco CCNA, or equivalent networking certification.

Additional certifications in security or virtualization (e.g., CompTIA Security , VMware VCTA) are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional IT experience, with at least two years in network administration or technical support.
  • Experience managing enterprise or healthcare networks preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant IT environments, network security auditing, and backup solutions is beneficial.

May require participation in an on-call rotation.
