Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting the licensed pharmacist in the judgmental aspects of preparing and dispensing medications.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Access, input, and retrieve information through the Pharmacy dispensing system to maintain accurate records and efficiently fill prescriptions.
- Administering vaccinations.
- Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions.
- Record dispensing information in patients medication profiles and maintains accurate notes.
- Provides patient/clients with counseling and education.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy program
- Licensed as a pharmacist intern with an unrestricted license in the state of Iowa
- Prior to administering vaccines, must provide certification of immunization training and basic life support training.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.
- Ability to work with sustained attention and care on routine repetitive tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions with accuracy, precision, and dependability.
- Ability to distinguish routine from judgmental functions
