SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing tests through approved department procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely fashion following established guidelines and physician orders. Report all tests in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures timely.
- Inform appropriate personnel of department supply needs ensuring uninterrupted testing.
- Perform, record and analyze QC data in order to make judgments concerning the results and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies.
- Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, a related field in Science, or equivalent experience.
- Certification by ASCP, NCA, or AMT preferred.
- Knowledge of all areas in the laboratory demonstrated through interview process.
- Knowledge of laboratory computer system preferred.
