SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting the operational functions of the hospital pharmacy, including inventory management, regulatory compliance, hazardous drug compounding oversight, 340B program support, technician workflow coordination, and policy development.

The Hospital Pharmacy Operations Supervisor reports to the Hospital Pharmacy Manager and ensures efficient, and cost-effective medication use processes and compliance with all regulatory standards. This role provides operational leadership and coordination of pharmacy workflows without direct supervisory responsibilities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

Support a productive and compliant hospital pharmacy operation by:

  • Coordinating day-to-day pharmacy operations to support efficient workflow and medication distribution
  • Overseeing inventory management processes, including procurement optimization, par level review, shortage mitigation, and reduction of expired or wasted medications
  • Supporting hazardous drug compounding practices and ensuring compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards, including direct hazardous and non-hazardous compounding activities
  • Assisting with regulatory readiness efforts, including policy development, audit preparation, and compliance monitoring
  • Supporting 340B program efforts through data analysis, proper documentation, and identification of cost-saving opportunities
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in pharmacy operations, inventory management, or regulatory compliance required.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with hazardous drug compounding and USP <797>/<800> practices preferred.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with 340B program operations preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, including inventory management and medication distribution systems.
  • Maintains working knowledge of State and Federal regulations, including USP <797> and <800> standards.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to coordinate workflows and support multiple operational priorities independently.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments
  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Maintains professional conduct aligned with WCHC standards.
