Job Overview
This position will allow the opportunity to develop into the future Director of Elections through hands on training and professional development.
The Elections Specialist performs a variety of technical, administrative, and public service duties in support of voter registration, election administration, and election technology. This position assists with all phases of election preparation and execution, including voter registration processing, election equipment maintenance, candidate filing, poll worker support, polling place setup, and election day operations.
The Elections Specialist serves as a key support position to the Director of Elections and helps ensure elections are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and local election laws.
Duties
Voter Registration and Records Management
- Receive and process voter registration applications.
- Verify voter eligibility and ensure proper assignment to precincts, districts, and wards.
- Enter, update, and maintain voter registration records.
- Assist with voter information verification and record maintenance.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of voter records.
Election Administration
- Assist with all phases of election preparation and administration.
- Help establish and prepare polling locations.
- Coordinate election supplies and materials for precincts.
- Assist voters during early voting and on Election Day.
- Support absentee voting processes and election-related activities.
- Assist with candidate filing and election documentation requirements.
- Record meeting minutes and maintain official election records.
Poll Worker and Public Support
- Assist with recruiting, training, and supporting seasonal election staff and precinct officials.
- Provide information and assistance to voters, candidates, elected officials, and the public.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries regarding voter registration and election procedures.
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with election officials, Board members, County staff, media representatives, and the public.
Skills
- Working knowledge of election administration and voter registration procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, databases, and office software.
- Knowledge of County government operations and functions.
- Ability to accurately enter, verify, and maintain voter information.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with election officials, Board members, County staff, media representatives, and the public.
- Ability to adapt quickly to legislative changes, court rulings, and procedural updates.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and meet critical deadlines.

Pay: $40,117.00 - $51,318.00 per year
