Job Overview
Waseca Montessori School is looking for a new team member for our kitchen staff. Serving approximately 150 students, our food program allows children to eat nutritious and delicious meals throughout the school day. We are hiring a qualified dishwasher and prep cook to assist with cleaning, dishwashing, and minor food prepping from 1:00-4:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping fruits, assembling ingredients, and portioning items according to recipes and safety standards
- Support the head chef by maintaining a tidy and hygienic work environment
- Follow food safety sanitizing procedures diligently to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations
- Handle manual tasks such as lifting heavy pots, trays, or boxes safely while adhering to proper ergonomic practices
- Operate kitchen equipment like dishwashers, sanitizers, etc. with care and proficiency
- Maintain kitchen health and safety standards by monitoring sanitation practices and reporting any hazards or issues promptly
Skills
- Strong understanding of food handling, preparation, and sanitation procedures in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with dishwashing practices and operating commercial kitchen equipment confidently
- Knowledge of food safety management principles and adherence to health regulations
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during busy service hours
- Prior restaurant or catering experience preferred; hospitality background is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to cleanliness, organization, and teamwork in a kitchen setting
