Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant who is fluent in Spanish to join our pediatric dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with children. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain the highest standards of infection control and medical documentation.
Duties
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Gather and document patient vital signs, medical history, and dental information accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Provide patient education in both English and Spanish regarding oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.
- Manage administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a pediatric or general dentistry setting.
- Fluency in Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of EMR system such as Dentrix for managing documentation and records.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, X-ray procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles along with experience in pediatrics is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and chairside assisting efficiently.
