What You'll Do
Daily Accounting & Transaction Processing
- Record and post daily accounting entries accurately and timely
- Process and verify transactions including deposits, payments, transfers, and adjustments
- Maintain general ledger accuracy through proper coding and documentation
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies in financial records
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly balancing of accounts
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and subsidiary systems
- Investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions or variances
- Ensure all reconciliations are completed within established timelines
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and deadlines
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Support preparation of financial reports and schedules
- Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and organized
- Support accounts payable and ACH processes as needed
- Provide general accounting and administrative support to employees and members as required
- Support audits and examinations by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting and card services operations
- Assist in researching and implementing new products and services to improve member experience and operational performance
- Assist in card disputes and exception processing
Experience and Education
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, within a financial institution, or within higher education preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or a relevant certification from an accredited technical college is preferred
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication and member service skills
- Ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms consistently
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch occasionally
- Ability to lift or push up to 10 pounds consistently
