The Warwick Community School and Warwick School District is Massachusetts’s newest public school district. Nestled into the scenic woodlands, along the border of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont (map), our beautiful and innovative elementary school opened in the fall of 2023. The school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus that features a vernal pool and cranberry bog. Mother foxes can be seen raising their cubs right outside the classroom windows. We have many school gardens and plan to build more to support both our curriculum and our lunch program.
The Warwick Community School District is seeking a highly skilled counselor to provide in-school counseling services for students with social/emotional, mental health, and behavioral needs. The School Adjustment Counselor will work with the students with social/emotional and mental health issues. The counselor will provide tier 2 and tier 3 services and supports for students to address the identified needs within the SEL and mental health portion of the school’s MTSS framework. The Counselor will partner with other school personnel to meet the needs of all students in the school. This is a part time position.
The School Adjustment Counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities:
Provide group and individual counseling services;
Design and deliver tiered supports and interventions;
Serve as an IEP team member providing direct services, consultation, goal writing, progress monitoring and attending IEP team meetings;
Case management services for assigned caseload;
Implement and respond as needed to mental health screening of all students;
Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues;
Serve on the Student Support Team, MTSS team, and Assessment & Care Team;
Provide crisis intervention when needed;
Family communication and collaboration as part of service delivery planning and services;
Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student’s service delivery
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Self-harm and threat assessment screenings as indicated
Perform other related duties as required
Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal or Director of Student Services
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider field
Background working with children and adolescents with mental health needs
MA ESE School Adjustment Counselor certification or eligibility for certification required.
