Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated part-time Reading Interventionist to provide high-quality reading instruction and targeted interventions for elementary students who need additional support in literacy. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and support staff to design and deliver evidence-based reading instruction aligned with the Science of Reading, the University of Florida Literacy Initiative (UFLI), and our district’s educational philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Provide small-group and individual reading instruction targeted to students’ specific learning needs, utilizing proven evidence-based practices such as Orton-Gillingham principles, UFLI Foundations lessons, SPIRE, LIPS, Lively Letters, Heggarty, Wilson, and/or other evidence-based materials and practices.
Administer and interpret assessments, including DIBELS, to identify students in need of intervention and monitor their progress.
Analyze assessment data and design effective intervention plans.
Develop and implement lesson plans focused on foundational reading skills—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Maintain detailed records of student progress, instructional plans, and communication with staff and families.
Participate in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and student support team meetings to ensure coordinated literacy intervention.
Model effective reading strategies and differentiated instruction for teachers and staff.
Communicate proactively with parents and caregivers about student growth, strategies for support at home, and progress towards literacy benchmarks.
When appropriate, integrate literacy instruction with Warwick’s nature-based and place-based learning model.
Engage in ongoing professional development related to structured literacy, UFLI, DIBELS, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Required Qualifications
Massachusetts Reading Specialist License.
Proven track record of improving students’ reading achievement through evidence-based interventions.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy, Reading, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Expertise with the University of Florida Literacy Initiative (UFLI) and foundational reading instruction programs.
Experience administering, interpreting, and using DIBELS data for instructional planning.
Knowledge of structured literacy approaches for students with dyslexia or related needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a classroom teacher.
Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and data-driven instruction.
Experience supporting mixed-age or multi-level learning environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff.
