Teacher Assistant 1:1 Toll Gate

SHIFT: Days - (7:00 to 2:30) 35 hours/wk. - 36 wks./yr.

• #14A - 60 credits in any field Teacher Assistant Training Program - $22.77/hour
• #12 - Teacher Assistant Training Program Parapro Assessment - $20.49/hour

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist the 1:1 student as directed by the classroom teacher and perform other duties as prescribed by the classroom teacher and/or principal. Flexibility to assist the district when 1:1 student is absent.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Prepare, distribute and display materials as directed by the teacher.
• Meet the bus and assists children into the classroom.
• At the direction of the teacher, the assistant will assist in maintaining order during instruction period.
• Changing of diapers and assist with toileting needs as necessary.
• Ability to lift student and supervise eating
• Escort children to and from various rooms as necessary and assist in those activities where necessary.
• Maintain records as required by the teacher.
• Assist at games, walks, exercises, etc.
• Perform other activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Responds to student needs as necessary as directed by the teacher.
• Other related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The ability to make accurate tabulations and computations; the ability to readily understand and carry out directions, both oral and written; the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; the ability to develop an effective working relationship with staff, students, parents and the community; creative thinking, problem solving skills and the ability to reinforce information one on one and to small groups; must have an understanding of child development, specifically in the area of special services and the ability to perform duties with an awareness of school department requirements and policies.

EDUCATION:

• Such as may be gained through graduation from a senior high school or equivalent (GED). Class 15- A minimum of two years college course work (60 credits) required in the field of education or an Associates Degree in a program specifically in the area of teacher assistant preferred. Class 14 - 60 credits in any field plus the Teacher Assistant Training Program Certification. Class 12 - Teacher Assistant Training Program Parapro Assessment

One year related experience preferred.
