Information Technology and Cyber Security CTE teacher

Role Description This full-time, on-site Information Technology and Cyber Security CTE Teacher role is located in Warwick, RI. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess daily instruction in information technology and cybersecurity, aligning lessons with state CTE standards and industry expectations. Responsibilities include developing course materials, projects, and labs that introduce students to topics such as networking, operating systems, security fundamentals, and safe digital practices. The teacher will guide students through hands-on learning using relevant hardware, software, and security tools, while integrating career exploration and industry certifications where appropriate. Additional duties include maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, collaborating with colleagues and support staff, communicating regularly with families, and participating in professional development and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach foundational and advanced information technology concepts, such as computer hardware, software, networking basics, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including threat awareness, secure practices, system protection, and introductory security tools or frameworks.
• Skill in designing CTE curriculum, lesson plans, and practical projects that align with state standards and prepare students for postsecondary education and careers.
• Strong classroom management, instructional, and assessment skills to support diverse learners and maintain an engaging learning environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and community or industry partners.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive classroom that welcomes students from all backgrounds and abilities.
• Relevant teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Career and Technical Education or a related field, as required by Rhode Island regulations.
• Preferred: Industry experience in information technology or cybersecurity, and familiarity with recognized certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, or similar pathways).
