Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical design skills and is proficient in CREO. A working understanding of Windchill, strong GD&T knowledge, a collaborative attitude, and attention to detail will help you meet your objectives as a Mechanical Designer at Wartech.
The ideal candidate must have the proven ability to generate conceptual designs in response to complex performance specifications, mature those designs, and produce comprehensive drawings and data that clearly describe them.
The ability to interpret design requirements into tangible, manufacturable designs is critical to this role. Ground-based military manufacturing and DoD experience is preferred but not required. Experience with steel weldment design, hand calculations for simple structural strength, documentation, technical presentations, project management, Windchill administration, electrical schematics, wiring, and harnesses is also desirable but not required.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced mechanical design techniques while working in a team environment
- Conceptualize, model, and draft mechanical design solutions
- Successfully use CREO v9.0 and Windchill on a daily basis
- Generate mechanical designs for ground-based defense equipment, mostly heavy steel weldments, using CREO v9.0
- Interpret design requirements, performance specifications, and customer needs into tangible, manufacturable designs
- Successfully complete ECRs, incorporating all necessary design changes to keep prints current
- Create mechanical and electrical drawings in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 and other standards with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Support documentation, design packages, and technical presentations as needed
- Perform hand calculations for simple structural strength when required
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and project stakeholders to solve design and production challenges
- Solve problems and use critical thinking skills

Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or “U.S. Person” in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- 5 years of work experience in mechanical design, CREO solid modeling, and detailing
- Education: Two-year associate degree in either mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology required; four-year bachelor’s degree preferred
- Preferred experience with a military manufacturing and engineering environment, particularly in applying military standards and designing in compliance with military performance specifications
- Experience with weldment design and drawing preferred
- Manufacturing facility experience preferred
