Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering skills, CAD experience, finite element analysis experience, strong GD&T capability, and the ability to perform hand calculations for simple structural strength. A collaborative attitude, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and polished technical writing ability will help you succeed as a Mechanical Engineer at Wartech.
The Mechanical Engineer must have the proven ability to generate conceptual designs in response to complex performance specifications, analytically validate those conceptual designs using modern Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software, and present the results of those efforts in a clear and concise manner through technical presentations and reports to Wartech’s customers.
The ability to interpret design requirements into tangible, manufacturable designs is critical to this role. Experience with FEMAP, CREO, Windchill, project management, steel weldment design, technical documentation, customer presentations, and defense work is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced engineering techniques while working in a team environment
- Compose trade studies
- Conceptualize, model, and draft mechanical engineering solutions
- Use CAD tools to support design, modeling, detailing, and analysis efforts
- Perform finite element analysis to analytically validate conceptual and detailed designs
- Perform hand calculations for simple structural strength
- Interpret design requirements, performance specifications, and customer needs into tangible, manufacturable designs
- Support fit, tolerance, and GD&T specification for mechanical designs and drawings
- Support mechanical designs for ground-based defense equipment, including steel weldments when required
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, design packages, and presentations
- Present technical results clearly and concisely to Wartech’s customers when needed
- Work with engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and project stakeholders to solve design and production challenges
- Successfully use engineering software packages as needed, including FEMAP, Nastran, CREO, and Windchill

Job
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or “U.S. Person” in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering using finite element analysis, solid modeling, and predictive analytical tools
- Education: Undergraduate degree in either mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering required; Master’s or PhD-level graduate work or degree preferred
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Preferred experience with a military or aerospace engineering environment, particularly in applying military standards and designing in compliance with military performance specifications
- Ability to interact with customers directly in a presentation or technical reporting capacity
- Experience with weldment design and calculation preferred
