Overview:
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of Wartech Engineering’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 standards and other applicable quality benchmarks (e.g., AS9102). This role ensures production quality, supplier accountability, and documentation integrity through audits, inspections, corrective actions, and preventive strategies. This position is critical to maintaining Wartech’s reputation for high performance in the defense and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality System Management
- Lead internal audits and manage all ISO surveillance and re-certification audits in coordination with the ISO Consultant.
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System and ensure policies/procedures remain compliant with ISO 9001 standards.
- Facilitate regular controlled document reviews and revisions.
- Prepare operating manuals, quality documentation, and training materials.
Production & Supplier Oversight
- Monitor and inspect incoming and outgoing parts, recording and reporting inspection results.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) per AS9102 standards.
- Create and maintain travelers for all active jobs to ensure traceability and quality checkpoints.
- Issue and track Quality Deficiency Notices (QDNs) to vendors; manage resolution communication.
Process Improvement & Analytics
- Identify gaps in workflow efficiency and recommend supplier/process improvements.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze data for corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze customer feedback and return data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support production operations in real-time problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Communication & Training
- Prepare quality reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Provide guidance and clear communication during change management initiatives.
- Train personnel on quality practices and documentation control procedures.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree with relevant experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 3–5 years’ experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in defense or aerospace.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9102, QMS and quality control principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; must be analytical and detail oriented.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs. as needed.
