What are the responsibilities and job description for the K9 Kennel Care Assistant- as needed position at Warriors Heart?
Warriors Heart is looking for an experienced K9 Kennel Caretaker for our Emotional Support and Service Dog program. Come be a part of a team that assists in healing our nations warriors!
This position is AS NEEDED on Saturday and Sundays. It is not a consistent schedule.
Experience:
- minimum 1 years experience working with dogs - basic obedience and kennel care
- understanding and knowledge of dog behavior
- able to work under pressure and communicate effectively
- CPR and 1st Aid Certification (will obtain within at facility within 60 days)
- able to pass a Background Check
- willing to submit to drug and alcohol screenings
Duties (to include but not limited to):
- assist in cleaning, feeding, grooming and vet check-ups
- teach basic obedience skills
- provide dogs with physical and mental exercises during training process
- monitor and assess performance of dog and client to make improvements or corrective action
- document training, accidents, injuries, etc
