Description

Want to help turn the library into the go-to hangout for curious, creative tweens and teens? Warren–Newport Public Library District is seeking a part-time Tween & Teen Services Associate II (about 19 hours per week) to create engaging programs and activities for tweens and teens.


The starting hourly range is $21.27–$26.23 per hour DOQ.


Schedule


Typical schedule:


Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.


Every other weekend:
Saturday: four-hour shift (between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.


(Sunday hours run from Labor Day through Memorial Day and are paid at time and a half.)


What You'll Do

  • Plan and lead programs for tweens and teens, including STEAM activities, gaming, and digital media workshops.
  • Support the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) and encourage youth leadership and participation.
  • Help maintain a welcoming and safe space for tweens and teens in the library.
  • Coordinate program logistics such as scheduling, room reservations, and supplies.
  • Stay informed about teen interests and trends to keep programs engaging and relevant.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons with library resources and technology.
  • Participate in outreach with local schools and community organizations.

Requirements

Education


Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).


Experience

  • At least two years of experience working with young people in libraries, schools, or community      organizations.
  • Experience leading youth programsor activities.
  • Familiarity with gaming platforms (Switch, Xbox, PC) and basic tech troubleshooting preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Additional Requirements


  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive a library vehicle for outreach or program-related activities.

Work Environment

  • This position involves a mix of sitting, standing, and walking and regular interaction with the public. 
  • The ability to lift and carry materials up to 40 lbs may be required.
