REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, data systems management, or
related field
Minimum of three (3) years successful experience using database systems and related technology
Experience with SQL
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated technical skills and experience working with computers and related technologies
Strong analytical skills related to working with data sets
Experience in troubleshooting and repair of basic computer problems, and ability to perform general
maintenance on computer hardware
Working knowledge of computer networks and network operating systems
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to support and communicate effectively with
certified employees, classified employees, and students in grades K-12
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming language
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Engineer collaborates with the Director of Technology, Director of Pupil Personnel, Director of
Nutrition and Dining Services, and Instructional Department to create and monitor an effective data pipeline
architecture from our student information system and other sources into appropriate instructional and
organizational systems, to increase efficient and consistent access to data by developing queries, functions,
processes and procedures, and to support personnel in the effective use of data systems.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & EVALUATION CRITERIA
Uses version control systems and documentation to maintain and distribute source code
Maintains business rules and technical documentation for data systems
Assembles data sets that meet functional/non-functional educational requirements
Troubleshoots computer and database problems and implements appropriate solutions
Identifies, designs, and implements industry standard, best practice internal process improvements: automating
manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Works with all appropriate school/district level committees in order to obtain the technology resources needed
to meet the instructional and management needs of the district/school
Works with administrators and teachers to assess technology and instructional needs and assists in the
development of appropriate short and long-term technology action plans to meet the identified needs
Develops and implements other activities that directly impact implementation of student, teacher, and
administrator technology standards

Develops and distributes instructional and training resources that directly impact the implementation of data
systems in the district
Attends local, regional, state, and national conferences as required by the Director in order to continue
professional learning
Maintains required records
Maintains knowledge of best practices in data storage, management, and access technologies
Selects appropriate technologies for data storage, maintenance, and application development
Assists others in developing and maintaining reports in Business Intelligence (BI) platforms
Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Technology and/or Superintendent or his/her designee
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is performed while standing or walking. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping, and
fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability
to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Number of days worked will be determined by the current school calendar adopted by the Warren County Board
of Education. Salary shall be commensurate with adopted classified personnel salary schedule. Leave accrual
will be as stated in Board Policy. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Warren County Board of Education
policy on evaluation of classified/certified personnel. Evaluations will be conducted by the Director of
Technology.
