TITLE: HOMEBOUND / HOSPITAL TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Kentucky Teacher’s Certification
2. Minimum of one (1) successful year of classroom teaching experience
3. Valid Kentucky Driver’s license and good driving record
4. Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by
Kentucky State law.
5. Must meet health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Student Services
JOB GOAL:
Provide supervision and individualized instruction for K-12 students, which will
allow them to keep their studies current while they are unable to attend school.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:
Knowledge of:
1. Effective teaching strategies to ensure pupil learning in subjects taught.
2. Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable state
publications, such as curriculum documents.
3. Curriculum, instruction and assessment processes and how they should
operate in an effective home study program.
4. District policies and procedures that govern program and curriculum.
5. Technology and computer software applications relative to instruction
and administration.
6. Kentucky Standards for the Teaching Profession

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilizes the course study adopted by the Board of Education, Kentucky
state curriculum and appropriate learning activities to teach the
curriculum necessary for students to keep current with their classroom
work so that grade level is maintained when they return to regular
classes.
2. Diagnoses pupil needs and develops lesson plans for individual pupils
according to needs. Ensures that students earn the necessary credits.
3. Evaluates pupil progress and share with student’s classroom teacher(s).
4. Develops student learning plans and organizes individual assignments so
that instruction can be accomplished and work completed daily.
5. Prepares appropriate instructional materials to enhance learning.
6. Develops and communicates to students and parents the expectations
regarding student achievement and behavior.
7. Maintains accurate records of student assignments, grades, credits and
daily work.
8. Maintains grades and credits earned to be reported on a Grade Report or
Release.
9. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with individuals
employed at the hospital/facility.
10. Consults with teachers/counselors at the assigned schools to
appropriately evaluate homebound students’ work completion.
11. Consults with teachers/counselors at assigned schools to coordinate class
assignments.

12. Reports to assigned “home school” when not performing homebound
duties.
13. Performs other non-instructional duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education. Salary and
supplement schedule will be as per the District’s Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation
of Certified Personnel.
