About Us: Warren County Head Start and Early Head Start are federally funded programs for pregnant women, children ages birth through 5 years old and their families. Our goal is to provide high-quality education and support, as early as pregnancy through the Preschool years to children, families and our community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Human Services or related field preferred
- Family Development Credential
- Valid driver's license
- Experience working with families
Overview/Responsibilities:
- promoting parent child relationships and family well-being
- partners with classroom staff to support and engage families.
- respect and respond professionally and appropriately to the families we serve
- Attends all staff meetings and training sessions, maintaining the mandated number of required training hours and uses provided information and resources
- Supports families’ safety, health, financial stability, life goals and aspirations
- Offers, and encourages, every family to partner in a goal setting process, which includes identifying family strengths and resources
- Completes recruitment activities as directed by the Family Services Coordinator
- Works with staff to ensure parent participation and family engagement in all aspects of the program. Ensures that parents receive newsletters and informational fliers.
- Makes referrals as necessary, supports families in accessing community resources, follows up on any referrals made, and completes documentation through designated technology programs
- Supports families by acting as an advocate in the community and within the program.
- Establishes working relationships with local health providers, dental providers and community partners
- Is responsible for participating in Case Management on an ongoing basis, when needed on all assigned families and completing/documenting all follow up.
- Facilitates parent involvement in Policy Council, Parent Group Meetings, parent education and social activities that support parent’s strengths, interests and needs
- Promote and support the program’s School Readiness goals and the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals
- Responsible for meeting with teachers on a weekly basis, to ensure ongoing communication about families and children
- Responsible for educating and assisting families to ensure children are up to date, or in the process of receiving all necessary health services, and appropriate documentation is received in a timely manner.
- Communicates respectfully and effectively with both parents/guardians and classroom staff regarding child or family concerns
- Maintains the position and attitude of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program in all communications with families and other community agencies
- Communicates respectfully and effectively with all families, children and staff and promotes teamwork.
This is a 12 Month Position with paid vacations, use of a company car for visits, paid snow days, and free ongoing professional development.
