SUMMARY

Responsible for establishing and maintaining open lines of communication between Head Start enrolled children, families and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Insure a safe workplace by enforcing Agency safety policies and any State, Federal or other applicable safety regulations.

Remain up to date and follow all FCAA and Head Start, and NYS Day Care Regulations, policies and procedures.

Assist in the recruitment process component with a team of staff, parents, and other component specialists as directed by the Senior Manager.

Establish files on each child recruited into the Head Start program.

Responsible for no more than 50 Children and their families.

Perform Individual Family Partnership Agreements with each family in the fall of each year and continue the process until the family leaves the program.

Visit each family two (2) times per year in addition to phone contacts throughout the year.

Maintain proficient documentation on each child/family on Child Plus.

Participate in monthly Teaching Team Meetings.

Participate in Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Follow the Family Engagement Plan.

Refer families to appropriate manager and/or community service/resource as deemed necessary.

Serve as a liaison between Head Start and family in social, emotional, and health aspects of family life.

Act as an advocate for current and past families.

Participate in organizing special parent activities.

Assist in obtaining donation from the community as directed by management and submit In-Kind contribution sheets to the Head Start Secretary.

Maintain weekly sign in/sign out sheets & meal counts.

Input and maintain data into Child Plus.

Participate in Child/Parent Orientation in coordination with the management team.

Attend Staff meetings.

Maintain and collect information to be input for the PIR process.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma and/or a GED is required. Hired after November 7, 2016, have within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, humanservices, family services, counseling or a related field. Minimum one year prior work experience in field(s) related to social, human or family services and or counseling preferred a high school education required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents and written communications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively speak in both one-on-one and group situations involving children, parents, staff and community members. Bilingual a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to utilize basic math skills, such as counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively and efficiently problem solve.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver License. CPR/First Aid Certification a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Reliable transportation required. Basic computer skills a plus.
