Controller

Warren Construction Group is a 100% employee-owned construction company based in Maine, and we're looking for a Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting. This role reports to the President and is part of our management team. You'll work directly with ownership and project managers to keep our numbers accurate, timely, and useful for running great jobs, and move the company toward achieving long-term objectives.

What you'll do

• Own the monthly close and prepare monthly financial statements, including the contract schedule (over/under billings)
• Manage job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and report job performance to project managers
• Oversee accounts payable, credit cards, accounts receivable, and customer billing support
• Manage payroll and benefits administration
• Handle cash flow and banking relationships
• Coordinate ESOP reporting with our trustee and plan administrator, and prepare Board and trustee financial packages
• Prepare the annual budget and work with our outside CPA on taxes and reviews
• Manage insurance renewals and broker relationships
• Strengthen internal controls, systems, and processes

What we're looking for

• 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with construction industry experience required
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CCIFP preferred
• Experience with Sage 100 Contractor or a similar construction accounting system preferred
• Strong Excel skills and excellent communication skills
• Someone who takes pride in their work, asks good questions, and likes helping the team

Schedule: Full-time, flexible schedule

Work Location: In person in Topsham, ME to start, with the option to work hybrid once onboarded.
