Position Overview:
Warner Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and mission-aligned Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) for the 2026–2027 academic year. This role focuses primarily on grammar instruction, supported by vocabulary and literature, to provide students with the foundational language skills necessary for success in our literature-centered high school English program.
The ideal candidate is a Christ-centered educator who understands the importance of shaping students both academically and spiritually—partnering with families in guiding students toward the image of Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach grammar as the core of the ELA curriculum, with literature and vocabulary as complementary tools.
- Design lessons that cultivate precision in writing, clarity in expression, and depth in comprehension.
- Equip students with the grammar and mechanics skills needed to succeed in advanced, literature-focused high school coursework.
- Use literature selectively to reinforce grammar instruction and introduce students to diverse texts and perspectives.
- Integrate vocabulary development to support student growth in reading and writing fluency.
- Foster a Christ-centered classroom culture that encourages curiosity, integrity, and respect.
- Assess student learning regularly and provide feedback that supports both academic and spiritual growth.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to ensure smooth curriculum alignment between middle school and high school.
- Engage with parents as educational partners, maintaining consistent communication about student progress.
- Participate in school events, faculty development, and other areas that contribute to the mission of WCA.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Current teaching certification and middle school teaching experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of grammar instruction and comfort integrating literature and vocabulary.
- Committed follower of Christ with a desire to invest in students’ spiritual and academic development.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
