Controller

Warm Beach Senior Community (WBSC) is a non-profit ministry of the Free Methodist Church with 59 years of service to the community and the elderly. We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team!

The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions, monthly financial statements and analysis, external audit preparation, internal budget, internal auditing, and financial governmental compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts, prepare accurate and timely financial statements and analyze results monthly
• Manage the annual budget process of the Senior Community. [10%]
• Manage the annual audit process and ensure that all audit work papers and statements have been prepared in a timely, accurate manner. [10%]
• Continually evaluate financial systems and procedures and make recommendations for improvement. [5%]
• Approve changes in the chart of accounts including adding new departments or accounts. [5%]
• Perform analysis of financial trends and work on special projects as directed. [10%]
• Develop appropriate short and long-term objectives for staff under his/her supervision. Complete annual staff evaluations. Provide staff training as required. [10%]
• Oversee Payroll and AP governmental compliance (L&I tax, 1099s, 1095c). [5%]
• Perform as back-up to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll positions. [10%]
• Oversee the Private loan program, including renewal of notes, interest payments and tax reporting. [5%]
• Ensure appropriate internal controls of the Senior Community financial reports and systems. [5%]
• Give advice, counsel, and interpretation of financial policies to the staff. [5%]
• Manage cash needs to maintain appropriate availability and returns. [5%]
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned. [5%]

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Seven years in accounting/finance, including two years supervisory.
• Knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software and ADP required.
• Point Click Care experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of all accounting and tax related legislation, regulations, and reporting procedures.
• Thorough understanding of all accounting functional areas.
• Self-motivated with little to no supervision.
• Creative problem solving and trouble shooting.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing programs (Excel, Word_
• Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
• Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.
• Create an environment of service and innovation that creates a win-win for internal customers and the accounting department.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• This is an onsite position, not remote.
