MECHANIC
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education Level:High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: None required.
- Experience Desired: 2 Years of professional heavy duty mechanic, bus mechanic, or deisel technician experience. Must be 21 years of age
REPORTS TO: Director of District Operations and Transportation, Assistant Superintendent
SUPERVISES: None
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation and Support Services Personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Utilize heavy-duty mechanic knowledge, skills, and ability to maintain the school fleet.
- Perform vehicle inspections and major and minor repairs, as well as monitor/complete ongoing regularly scheduled maintenance.
- Ensure fleet vehicles are in safe, working order when placed in service and free of mechanical defects.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot all major component groups.
- Respond to road calls and troubleshoot in the field when necessary.
- Proficient use of diagnostic equipment.
- Utilize proficient and effective time management skills in performing assigned tasks.
- Perform metal and fiberglass fabrication.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a safe work environment and clean work area.
- Regular and predictable attendance according to the position’s approved work schedule.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Possess knowledge of fleet maintenance procedures.
- Possess basic computer skills necessary, including use of Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Possess necessary tools and the ability to use a variety of shop tools and equipment.
