Vet tech

Ward Veterinary Services is seeking a reliable, skilled, and self-directed Veterinary Technician with hands-on clinical experience. This position requires strong technical ability, excellent patient care, and consistent follow-through in a fast-paced medical environment.

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Medical Support

• Assist with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and daily patient monitoring.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, injections, and medication administration.
• Assist in anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, and surgical preparation.
• Take high-quality radiographs, run in-house laboratory tests, process samples, and maintain accurate records.
• Support ICU, hospitalized, and surgical patients with exceptional attention to detail.

Client Communication

• Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain professional and clear communication in person and by phone.

Technical Skills & Hospital Operations

• Set up, clean, and maintain exam rooms, surgery suites, and equipment.
• Maintain proper stock levels and assist with inventory management.
• Document all treatments accurately in veterinary software (EzyVet or similar).
• Ensure patient safety, low-stress handling, and proper restraint techniques.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years veterinary technician experience required.
• Proficiency in venipuncture, restraint, surgical assistance, radiology, and lab work.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management abilities.
• Ability to stay focused, efficient, and calm in a busy environment.
• Comfortable lifting 40 lbs and assisting with animals of all sizes.
• Certification preferred but not required for the right experience level.
