We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Large Animal Technician to join our team on a part-time basis. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments for large animals.
- Perform animal restraint using appropriate techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions.
- Support laboratory work including sample collection, processing, and basic testing procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of patient care, treatments administered, and procedural notes in compliance with clinic protocols.
- Handle various species of large animals with confidence, including equines, bovines, and other livestock.
- Assist with general animal husbandry duties such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment that meets all safety and sanitation standards.
- Qualifications
- Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, restraint techniques, and veterinary terminology.
- Experience with medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic technique is essential.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely and confidently across various species including horses and livestock.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with team members and clients.
- Prior experience working at a veterinary clinic or hospital specializing in large animals is highly desirable.
