Position Summary
The Service Technician II will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, as well as associated equipment, for commercial and industrial customers. The frequency of duties may vary based on job assignments.
Essential Responsibilities
This position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, along with frequent hand use for typing, writing, and handling tools and equipment. Duties may involve lifting and carrying materials of varying weights, pushing and pulling objects, climbing stairs or ladders, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or reaching overhead. Clear communication, including speaking and hearing, as well as strong visual ability, such as close vision and depth perception, are necessary. Work may be performed in an office, field, or construction environment, depending on the role, with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, confined spaces, or uneven surfaces. The ability to follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.

Position Summary

Essential Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic checks, repairs, and start-ups on HVAC systems on rooftops and associated equipment.
- Provide repair recommendations to Service Writers.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance per the maintenance checklist to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of thermostat operations and troubleshooting.
- Use a variety of tools, such as reclaimers, torches, and vacuum pumps, and follow blueprints, wiring and piping diagrams, or engineering specifications for installations and repairs.
- Capable of brazing when required.
- Safely work with live voltages up to 600 volts.
- Handle and set up step and extension ladders up to 32 feet.
- Work safely from heights and confined spaces.
- Properly handle and maintain all company-provided equipment.
- Communicate effectively with customers and office personnel daily.
- Follow all safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and adhere to company policies as outlined in the employee and safety handbooks.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressures, weather conditions, and varying customer needs.
- Maintain timely communications with co-workers and customers.
- Professional demeanor in actions and appearance.
- Strong customer service focused.
- Submit all required electronic reports and paperwork, including timesheets, startup sheets, and service orders, promptly.
- Provide on-call service as scheduled.
- Drive a company vehicle between job sites as needed.
- Demonstrate commitment and dependability.
- High school diploma/GED required
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- EPA Universal license,
- Maryland HVACR license may be required within 90 days of employment.
- Completion of HVAC Trade School or 2-5 years of related work experience.
- Experience with packaged rooftop units up to 25 tons, VAV systems, reciprocating chillers up to 20 tons, gas heating systems up to 500,000 BTU, multi-zone package rooftops up to 25 tons, WSHP units up to 15 tons, and compressor and rooftop replacements up to 20 tons.
- Comprehensive knowledge of refrigerant systems, including refrigerant evacuation, recharging, and mini-split servicing.
- Basic understanding of DDC controls and interface.
- Ability to perform math computations required in the trade.
- Competency in troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with personal computers, tablets, and phones.
- Commitment to ongoing learning in HVAC product installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
- Follow Building Services SOP procedures and company policies as outlined in the employee and safety handbooks.
- Recognition of the importance of safety in the workplace, adherence to safety rules, safe work and driving habits, appropriate use of safety equipment, and reporting of unsafe conditions to the Safety Officer.
- Ability to mentor helpers and apprentices.
