Position Summary:
- The Operations Supervisor – Field & Fleet Services provides frontline leadership for daily yard, fleet, and field operations at Walters Services, Inc. This is a hands-on, tactical role responsible for making sure drivers, yard staff, and daily workflow operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Walters’ service standards and Core Values.
- Working closely with the Regional Manager, the Supervisor leads daily execution, reinforces SOPs and safety practices, provides hands-on coaching, supports fleet and equipment readiness, and maintains clear communication across the team. The Supervisor also fills short-term operational gaps by assisting in the field when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visible daily leadership presence in the yard and during dispatch.
- Conduct morning touchpoints to reinforce expectations, priorities, and Core Values.
- Coach team members on safe practices, service quality, professionalism, and efficiency.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and hands-on training.
- Support HR with documentation and recommendation for corrective actions (final decisions remain with Regional Manager).
- Build team culture, morale, and cohesion.
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable team members. Terminate when necessary, with Regional Manager & HR support.
- Conduct quarterly conversations and annual reviews to ensure accountability and alignment.
- Hold L10s with your team.
- Oversee morning dispatch readiness; ensure trucks, units, equipment, and materials are properly staged.
- Confirm route completeness, documentation accuracy, and adherence to SOPs. Execute cross-territory labor sharing plan set by Regional Manager
- Maintain continuous communication with Central Planning regarding route updates or field conditions.
- Run routes or assist in the field when short-term coverage is required.
- Ensure yard, shop, and staging areas remain clean, organized, and in safe working condition.
- Property and building maintenance and management, with Regional Manager vision and support.
- Monitor quality of service delivery, unit placement, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure vehicles, units, tools, and supplies are prepared for next-day operations.
- Conduct basic truck, equipment, and unit inspections; report issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate inventory of units, supplies, and materials.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Department on PM schedules, repairs, and truck availability.
- Ensure proper tagging, unit rotation, washing, and staging processes are followed.
- Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, SOPs, and regulatory rules.
- Conduct safety spot-checks, toolbox talks, and simple QA inspections.
- Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Support safety investigations led by Regional Manager or Safety team.
- Ensure drivers adhere to safe driving practices, pre/post-trip expectations, and proper unit handling.
- Maintain clear, respectful communication with drivers, yard staff, customer service, and internal teams.
- Resolve basic customer issues at the yard level; escalate more complex issues to the Regional Manager.
- Work with Sales and Customer Service to support special requests, events, and service needs.
- Reinforce Walters’ “Our Service is the Difference” mindset with the team.
- Deliver structured, hands-on training for new hires and refresher training for existing staff.
- Maintain training records, signoffs, and compliance documentation.
- Reinforce SOPs and daily expectations in the yard and field.
- Ensure team adherence to DOT regulations, environmental policies, and company standards.
- Complete daily logs, checklists, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Review driver notes, photos, route documentation, and service confirmations for accuracy.
- Support timekeeping review, attendance checks, and schedule adjustments.
- Report yard-level staffing, service issues, equipment needs, and safety concerns to the Regional Manager.
- Assist with basic billing accuracy and documentation.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support after-hours needs, weekend emergencies, weather events, or special operations.
- Coordinate with drivers, Safety, Fleet, and the Regional Manager during after-hours situations.

Qualifications:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain/maintain DOT Medical Card.
- Prior experience in driving, customer service, or frontline supervision.
Preferred
- Experience in operations, logistics, transportation, waste services, or field service.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Experience using tablets, routing systems, ServiceCore, and Google Workspace.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position is accountable to the Regional Manager, Operations Director, and ultimately to the Integrator and Visionary of Walters Services Inc.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work performed in yard, shop, office, truck, and field environments.
- Exposure to weather, noise, chemicals, and waste environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing in/out of trucks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (team-assisted for heavier items).
- Requires clear communication and calm problem-solving in dynamic conditions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel
- This is a full time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday, per work schedule, customer needs and seasonal variation. This position will require on-call work, weekend work and/or longer hours when needed to complete work, or when requested.
- Local travel within the service area required.
