Position Summary
- The Regional Operations Manager provides multi-yard leadership, ensuring Walters Services' culture, safety standards, operational consistency, financial performance, and customer service excellence are upheld across all assigned yards.
- This is a strategic, non-tactical leadership role. The Regional role focuses on:
- developing and holding Supervisors accountable for performance and culture
- driving KPI and financial performance across all assigned yards
- enforcing SOPs, remove obstacles, and align team with core values
- ensuring consistency in safety, service, quality, and execution across multiple yards
- implementing strategic initiatives that support operational growth

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop Supervisors to drive safety, quality, efficiency, and culture across all yards.
- Conduct weekly 1:1s and L10 with Supervisors, quarterly conversations, and annual reviews to ensure accountability and alignment.
- Identify high-potential talent, build development plans, and coordinate leadership training with HR and the Integrator.
- Maintain strong yard presence and partner with HR on performance management and staffing decisions.
- Assist Supervisors in leading L10s for their teams.
Lead, manage, and hold accountable team members. Terminate when necessary, with Regional Manager & HR support.
Own regional financial performance, including labor, overtime, productivity, and asset stewardship.
- Forecast driver hour needs, validate planning output, and approve labor/resource adjustments (e.g., temp labor, rentals, route changes).
- Review KPIs with Supervisors and drive operational changes to meet targets.
- Identify cost savings, labor optimization, and process improvements through data and field insights.
Approve cross-yard work shifts, rental trucks, temp labor, or routing changes to ensure service execution and labor efficiency.
Enforce SOPs, safety practices, and operational standards across all yards.
- Lead regional process improvement initiatives in partnership with Sales and shared services.
- Conduct audits, visits, and quality checks to ensure every yard meets Walters expectations.
- Remove barriers between yards and shared departments (Fleet, Planning, Safety, Sales, Finance).
Property and building management vision and support for Supervisors.
Lead 3-, 6-, and 12-month planning for labor, equipment, and capacity needs.
- Champion key business lines and expansion readiness (including new yard prep).
Drive execution of Rocks, initiatives, and strategic communication across the region.
Serve as an escalation point for sensitive customer issues.
- Support flawless execution for large accounts and special events.
- Conduct regular customer visits and attend monthly operating reviews with Sales.
Complete customer visits quarterly in order grow and cultivate the business
Ensure Supervisors and frontline staff receive role-specific training and development.
- Identify skill gaps and build development plans; provide coaching on field operations.
Ensure regulatory compliance (DOT, environmental, safety)
Lead operational setup for new yard launches, integrations, and territory expansions.
- Mentor Supervisors during post-launch ramp-up and stabilization.
- Champion tools, systems, and reporting improvements to scale operations.
- Register with dump sites, townships, and the like.

Qualifications:
Education- Licenses- Certifications
- Required: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
- 5 years of multi-site or supervisory operational leadership.
- Experience in operations, logistics, waste hauling, transportation, or field service is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to improve KPIs, labor efficiency, and team performance.
- Financial acumen — labor modeling, budgeting, forecasting, KPI interpretation.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position is accountable to the Operations Director, and ultimately to the Integrator and Visionary of Walters Services Inc.
Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel Expectations
- Work performed in office, yard, and field environments.
- Regular travel across all assigned yards.
- Exposure to weather, noise, jobsite hazards, and sanitation environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate staging areas as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday, per work schedule and customer needs.
- This position will require on-call work, weekend work and/or longer hours when needed to complete work, or when requested.
