Duties
- Prepare comprehensive construction estimates for steel division projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope documents.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from design drawings to determine material requirements and pricing strategies.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project plans, negotiate terms, and refine estimates to ensure competitiveness.
- Manage bid submissions efficiently while maintaining accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process to ensure estimates align with budget expectations and market conditions.
- Support cost control initiatives by analyzing variances between estimated and actual costs during project execution.
- Review construction contracts and scope of work to identify potential risks or opportunities for cost savings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new materials or techniques relevant to steel construction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating within the steel or heavy civil construction industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction estimating, cost control, pricing strategies, and contract review processes.
- Hands-on construction site experience or background in construction management is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction site safety standards and project management principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and presenting estimates clearly.
