Job Title: Walnut Ridge Assistant Director
Job Status: Full time
Reports To: Walnut Ridge Director
Purpose: The Childcare Assistant Director works alongside the Director to oversee staff, curriculum implementation, and day-to-day operations. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children while supporting families and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Director to maintain a growing child care center for children birth through 12 years of age
- Implement policy, procedures, and goals to support continued compliance with the State of Michigan licensing standards and quality childcare
- Direct school age Summer Camp as outlined by the Out of School Time Grant (June through September)
- Help manage day-to-day childcare center operations, including teaching as needed
- Create and execute special events, including theme days and family activities
- Provide administrative assistance to the Director, including organizing paperwork, CDC billing, staff schedule, and procedures
- Help recruit, train, and maintain staff
- Assist in providing coaching, mentoring, and training to staff
- Address parent concerns and ensure high customer satisfaction
- Maintain supply inventory and purchasing
- Operate as the person in charge in the absence of the Director
Requirements:
- Complete a comprehensive background check through the Child Care Background Check (CCBC) system
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed child care facility
- Working knowledge of the State of Michigan Child Care Regulations
- Experience with organization, parent communication, and staff leadership, or a strong desire to learn
- Experience working with and implementing staff training through MiRegistry preferred
Employment Package
- Start Date: ASAP
- Hour and hourly wage: $20-$23
- Vacation: 1 week after 6 months of employment, 2 weeks at 1 year of employment, with 1 week added each subsequent year up to 4 weeks
- Work Schedule: varies based on the needs at Walnut Ridge
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
