$20.00 - $25.00 Hourly depending on experience
Job Overview
As the Garden and Nursery Retail Sales Associate, one must be familiar with all aspects of the Garden and Nursery Industry including but not limited to customer service, basic landscape, design, inventory management, and the day-to-day operations of a retail plant yard.
The Garden and Nursery Retail Sales Associate is essentially responsible for the presentation of the retail yard, maintenance of that specific area of plant material and interaction with the retail clients.
This position must successfully interact with the Garden and Nursery Lead and Garden and Nursery Staff, in addition to Walnut Creek Hardware Management as well as the WCH Owners. The Nursery Retail Sales Associate must also successfully and professionally interact with outside vendors and wholesale customers as well as all landscape crews.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure that each customer you interact with receives outstanding service which follows the ACE W.O.W. process and meets/exceeds mystery shop standards.
- Provide expert Garden and Nursery sales help and offer solutions to customer inquiries
- Assisting with customer service inquiries outside of the Garden and Nursery department as needed.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements as it relates to the Garden department
- Maintain an isle or department, including down stocking, front and facing, cleaning, and monitoring outs
- Assist with cashiering as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Alignment with Downtown Walnut Creeks core values: Service, Passion, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.
- Education/Training: High School degree; College degree and/or additional qualification in a Nursery Industry related area of study such as Landscape/Horticulture or Landscape Contracting
- Experience: Proven experience in the Retail Nursery Industry with exposure to a broad range of Garden Center experience
- Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
- High attention to detail.
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Personal and friendly to staff and management with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
